"Cops on Fire" is a cult classic hip-hop opera by Alexander Legchakov and Yuri Kvyatkovsky, which gained fame in the early 2010s for its creative approach to music, staging, as well as its unconventional plot and witty humor. After a long hiatus from performances, the creators decided to relaunch the show and held a series of sold-out performances of the new version of the opera in October and December 2020.
I was invited to join the production as a sound designer on an emergency basis — one week before the premiere. This urgency arose because the previous sound specialist had unexpectedly left the team. Within a week, I completed all sound design for every scene of the performance, and structured and prepared the music playbacks for live shows. At all performances, I also managed the playback of music and sound design elements.
In addition, I was responsible for recording the master audio of the performance for future use in trailers and promotional materials, and assisted Noize MC* in recording audio for his track "Smoke on tha Water", which is part of the show.
