Pritch is an immersive video game that combines elements of an interactive novel and a first-person shooter. The project was born in 2022 through the efforts of graduates from the HSE Art & Design School. The foundation of the game was created by the project lead, Alexandra Mikhaylenko, as part of a coursework assignment, but quickly grew into the groundwork for a full-fledged commercial product.
I was invited to join the project team in August 2022 as a composer and sound designer. My responsibilities include: the full production cycle (writing, producing, mixing & mastering) of original compositions for the soundtrack, adapting those compositions for an interactive control system, creating the complete sound design for the characters, locations, effects, UI, and more: developing the interactive audio system together with the team's programmers, implementing assets into the game engine, providing sound assets for trailers, as well as creating and managing asset lists for the project's audio elements. The game, as well as the sound, is being realized through Unreal Engine 5.
The game's soundtrack sits at the intersection of post-rock, jazz, and electronics, underscoring the post-apocalyptic setting of the game's strange and brutal world: amidst glitch percussion and the sharp yet melodic roar of guitars, the player is set to immerse themselves in a world of intrigue and mystery and save what remains of life in the glass desert.
