The opera installation Silent Opera unfolded at the bottom of the bowl of a 25-meter pool at the Bibliotheca space, which was transformed into a theatrical venue for the evening. The musical framework for the performance consisted of the greatest hits of baroque operas, from Handel to Vivaldi, with vocal parts performed by the ensemble N’CAGED.

In the storyline, the walls of a modern library became home to classical baroque heroes and their finest arias. Rinaldo, the hero of Handel’s opera of the same name, was reimagined as the Librarian, while Almirena remained his beloved. The action, in keeping with tradition, is full of dramatic emotion, symbolism, and mysticism. However, thanks to skillful editing, the performance avoids the protracted length of classical baroque operas.

As part of this performance, I created the overall sound design for the space, as well as an extensive musical composition for the pre-show.
